I recently canceled by subscription to Hulu, mainly because between free Tubi, Netflix and Amazon it felt like a bit of an also-ran (I had the tier with commercials because even at that point the value proposition never quite worked for me).
It goes without saying that literally the day I cancel my subscription I find a trailer for Boss Level, starring the always appealing Frank Grillo (and the not-quite so appealing Mel Gibson).
It’s directed by Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smokin’ Aces, The A-Team, The Grey), who’s a director that does what I like to call “Nuanced Action (which isn’t a genre but it ought to be)” which I mean smart action movies
The storyline is bit confusing for me though.
From the trailer it looks like we’re dealing with maybe a Groundhog Day, Happy Death Day 2U-type of scenario.
Then again the movie’s name is “Boss Level,” which is a video game term, which makes. it seem awfully similar to Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming Free Guy.
